Kingston Regal

Adjacent to Kingston Station, the original Kingston Regal – a Grade II* Listed Art Deco building – is under-going an extensive redevelopment.

The project involves:

a complete refurbishment and repair of the listed interior and masonry exterior
additional three storeys of apartments to be built on top of the existing cinema, and new full basement
construction of an activity space for children and a new mezzanine floor for a restaurant and stage
rebuild of the seven-storey Annex Building to the north-east of the site for residential and commercial use

This project necessitates structural design and analysis for several different types of construction including masonry, steel, timber and concrete, all interfacing new with the existing listed structure; hence there are many complex structural design challenges to be overcome, with the added obstacle of keeping within listed structure (planning) and architectural constraints.
