Dalston Lane

Dalston Lane is a development between Dalston Junction and Hackney Central Station, constructed on the site of an existing terraced building.

As structural consultant for this project, Peter Dann designed a 90 metre long, four-storey building providing 44 units of residential accommodation – one, two, three and four bed flats, together with 10 retail units totalling approximately 1029 m2 of floor space. The structure comprises a main steel frame supported by mass and reinforced concrete foundations.

This project provided the opportunity to combine old and new construction techniques, such as lime mortar in the façade’s external skin, while fully insulated light steel and plasterboard inner skins provide the comforts of a new home.
