This project involved the rear and side extension of a residential property to create a spacious family home, replacing a previously subdivided and compromised layout.
The property comprises four levels: lower ground floor, ground floor, first floor and attic. Overall, the house required significant intervention. Early works focused on the removal of inconsistent alterations, which included a tower-like rear extension. The scheme introduced a substantial rear extension opening onto a raised garden. This required excavation and regrading works to the rear, along with new retaining elements and foundation design to accommodate changes in external levels and ensure stability of both the existing structure and new build.

The internal reconfiguration required careful coordination to accommodate a high occupancy layout, including five bedrooms on a single floor. Load-bearing walls were removed and replaced with structural supports to enable a more open plan while maintaining appropriate load paths.
The rear extension and garden interface also required large openings to create visual and physical connectivity between internal and external spaces. This necessitated the design of appropriate lintels or transfer structures to support the existing and new loads above.
The loft was also converted into habitable space with new staircase access provided.
