Based on the Norwich Research Park and operated by the University of East Anglia, the Bob Champion Research and Education Building explores new treatments for diseases from cancer to musculo-skeletal and gastrointestinal diseases. The medical school’s vision is to become a pathfinder and world leader in clinical research and teaching.
We completed the civil and structural engineering design for the project.
The accommodation is split into two linear blocks, interconnected via the central triple-height atrium space. Every feature of the building has been thoughtfully constructed, from the sustainable naturally ventilated teaching and research space, to the roof form which has been developed to optimise the building’s location.
The project needed to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ as part of the UEA’s Green Campus aims.
