Peter Dann are pleased to have been involved with a number of developments at Alconbury Weald for Urban and Civic. These include providing structural consultancy for this impressive new primary school. The iconic design sits on the axis on the site’s former taxiways providing a historic location at the heart of the community.
The building is structured with cross laminated timber from sustainable sources to form an innovative Y-shaped design, with each wing accommodating key stage class bases. The double height vaulted assembly hall at the heart of the building provides ample space for activities common for each key stage.
The building incorporates feature pre-cast concrete cladding panels that provide a dramatic façade to the public facing elevations. The use of 3D design and detailing BIM methodology ensured collaboration throughout the design process to successfully achieve the client’s brief and architects’ vision.
