We have worked extensively with a number of County Councils across East Anglia on the redevelopment of their primary and secondary school estates. Over 25 projects have been completed, including the development of the £25M Cambourne Education Campus. This comprised the construction of a five form entry secondary school and a three form entry primary school.
Our services extended to the design and detailing of the roads and car parking areas, a surface water control pond to restrict discharge from the site to the green field runoff rates and a pumped foul sewer system discharging to the main sewers serving the village. This required extensive negotiations with Anglia Water and the Environment Agency to gain agreement for the discharges.
The site was subject to stringent environmental controls to protect local habitats and provide safe routes for wildlife, in particular newts to pass beneath the highways. The surface water control pond was also designed to create a permanent wildlife haven – a teaching resource for the college.
