Interior of modular hotel with union jack cushions and black metal columns

citizenM Bankside

Located close to the Tate Modern, citizenM Bankside is a six storey modular hotel built over a single storey traditional steelwork podium.

The design includes 192 affordable luxury rooms, practical meeting spaces known as societyM, a boutique bar and restaurant/canteenM. Peter Dann designed volumetric light-gauge steel frames to create the hotel’s modular bedrooms.

The fully fitted-out frames were fabricated offsite and lifted into position with large mobile cranes. The modular bedrooms were then tied into precast concrete lift cores.
