Theatre Royal Brighton, Restoration

Working alongside Conamar Building Services, we were pleased to be a part of the team delivering a major refurbishment to the iconic Theatre Royal Brighton.

Brighton Theatre Royal Refurbished collonade facade

The building, dating back to 1807, presented a complex history of structural adaptation. Peter Dann were responsible for the design and detailing of the steelwork to fully replace the colonnade construction due to the extensive corrosion present to the existing members. The new structure needed careful coordination with the terracotta cladding specialists to enable the steel elements to fit in the limited space and structural zones available.

Temporary support was required to support the existing bays above whilst the original structure was replaced.

Various interior upgrades included auditorium boxes in order to enhance the access and comfort of audiences.
