This flagship development at Trelowen Way in Hempstead is on the pulse of sustainability. Each dwelling is not only low-cost but low-carbon and energy efficient, all achievable with innovative products and offsite construction methods.
75 properties range from one-bedroom maisonettes to four-bedroom semi-detached houses. Each home is designed to be highly energy efficient using a ‘fabric first’ approach. PV panels on roofs will reduce energy costs and help tackle fuel poverty. An Energy Performance Certificate rating of ‘A’ was achieved.
Peter Dann was responsible for the civil engineering design, undertaking work to complete the adoption agreements for the drainage and highway infrastructure. We also prepared the earthworks and level packages for the project, coordinating retaining wall design where required. Our structural team undertook the substructure designs on the former industrial site, which provided challenging ground conditions. A driven piled solution was adopted for the foundations to the new buildings.
It’s worth noting that two bungalows meet Part M4(3) of Building Regulations and 21 meet Part M4(2) to provide accessible/adaptable dwellings.
