South street housing development peterborough peter dann engineers

Peter Dann provided structural engineering for 26 new residential dwellings on South Street, Peterborough, delivered for Burmor Construction. The project transformed a brownfield site of old and unused buildings into amix of flats and houses, now occupied by Cross Keys Homes residents.

Our work covered the full structural design of the buildings, ensuring efficiency and compliance with modern building regulations. We
collaborated closely with DT Architects and Burmor’s subcontractor team. Together, we ensured the structural solutions were fully integrated with the architectural design and aligned with the construction program.

We also provided on-and-off-site drainage and highway design, ensuring the development met wider infrastructure requirements. The structural design accommodated sustainable energy features such as photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps, combining durability with energy efficiency.

This project demonstrates how targeted structural engineering expertise can transform brownfield sites into modern, sustainable communities, delivering high-quality, affordable housing while meeting complex technical and environmental requirements.
