It has been a pleasure having Peter Skeen as an intern at our office in Cambridge this summer. Peter joined us in July for an eight-week placement which ends this week – giving him some time to relax before returning to Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge, for his second year studying for a MEng Engineering.
Peter says of his time with Peter Dann: ‘During my eight-week placement at Peter Dann, I have been involved with a wide variety of projects at different stages of development. This has enabled me to gain an understanding of the process behind a complicated project. Additionally, the company has supported me to develop software skills such as Tekla Structures and Tedds. Thanks to the great help of Shoaib, Alan, Matt and Jack throughout my placement, I have been able to produce calculation packages and drawings for clients which I found very satisfying.’
Peter worked closely with several members of our Engineering and Technical teams, in particular with his mentor, Shoaib Gangat, who states, ‘It’s been great having Peter with us over the summer. He has been absorbing the floods of information he has been presented with, and it has been gratifying to watch the way he has approached each challenge, and to see a fresh perspective on engineering through his eyes. As a first-year student we have found him to be intuitive and resourceful, and he has contributed to the team extremely well. We look forward to seeing what his future in engineering brings.’
We wish Peter every success for the future, along with the other Year 10 and 12 students who have joined us on work experience over the last few months. It is so rewarding to see their interest in engineering, and in particular structural engineering, develop over the time they have spent with us.
