From joining us at 19 to delivering complex projects like Kettering General Hospital Energy Centre, Dan’s journey is one of growth, dedication and passion…
Why did you become a structural technician?
I was introduced to the idea of this at the age of 19/20 by my uncle who was an architect. I then found a position at Peter Dann where I’ve worked my way through the relevant qualifications and have been here ever since. I thoroughly enjoy my role and there is always something new to learn or experience. It’s a great feeling to be committed and established at Peter Dann and I look forward to many more years here with the team in Cambridge.
Which project at Peter Dann are you most proud of completing, and why?
Kettering General Hospital Energy Centre. A complex and very interesting project combining many construction methods and fully coordinated on Revit between all consultants. It’s had its challenges and been a great learning experience. Another notable one would be Northstowe Education Campus. Working on various new builds on one site and, again, a fully coordinated Revit project with all consultants.
Tell us about your music career…
I’ve played the drums since the age of 15 and experienced various bands along the way. Until 2022 when I was offered an opportunity with a signed and touring band, Underdark, who are based primarily in Nottingham. With them I have experienced studio album recording, tours around the UK, festival appearances and European tours. I’d say drumming and what I do with the band is both an extension of me and an escape. Like everything in life, it has its tough moments and very rewarding ones. It requires me to use a lot of my leave for tours and shows, but it’s been very much worth it so far. February 2026 saw me record my second album with Underdark up in Manchester and is due to be released in June/July time.
